‘Scooping to Dry’
In this artwork, I address the topic of ecological crisis through the physical act of transferring water between two rivers with opposite currents. Using a randomiser to make decisions, I emphasise the randomness and duality of human efforts that can both prevent and exacerbate disaster. This process becomes a symbol of the absurdity of human endeavour in the context of global problems.

The symbolism and subtexts of the work are revealed through several key aspects.
The duality of actions
Each choice of the hero symbolises the balance between creation and destruction. Even inaction here becomes an ethical act, emphasising that every decision or lack thereof has consequences.
Randomness as a metaphor for the spontaneity of nature
The use of randomiser in  the narrative emphasises that humans are not always able to control events. It refers
to the stochasticity of nature, where chance plays a key role and human beings are forced to rely on voluntary circumstances.
Physical labour as an act of artistic expression
Drawing, carrying, and pouring out water becomes a metaphor for meaningless labour, reminiscent of the myth of Sisyphus. However, in the context of the overall catastrophe, each action takes on significance, emphasising the importance of even the most seemingly futile efforts.
Water as mediator
The Ligovsky Canal represents the threat of flooding, symbolising danger and chaos. At the same time, the Krasnenkaya River acts as a symbol of hope and salvation, creating a contrast between destruction and the possibility of renewal.
